About the role

Fundraising specialists work with tight collaboration with marketing and help company to obtain fundraising support. They discover how we can raise money, and which avenues they can raise that money through. Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations or other gifts for an organization. Fundraising specialists develop strategies, design and produce promotional materials, and organization’s work for making money. They are solely responsible for raising funds.

Key Tasks

As a fundraising professional you will be tasked to generate regular money inflow as a givings, loans, equity sales with new donors and investors, but this role does not involve cold calling. You will work to develop relationships with Global communities and organisations to make them program participants. There is scope also for innovative, fresh, evidence-based ideas on how to raise funds. Responsibilities of a fundraising specialist  include working with:

  • Develop corporate fundraising programs
  • Monitor progress of fundraising drives
  • Compile or develop materials to submit to granting or other funding organizations.
  • Develop and maintain media contact lists.
  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events
  • Create or update donor databases
  • Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events.
  • Develop fundraising activity plans that maximize participation or contributions and minimize costs.
  • Develop or implement fundraising activities, such as annual giving campaigns or direct mail programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop corporate fundraising programs, such as employer gift-matching.
  • Monitor progress of fundraising drives.
  • Compile or develop materials to submit to granting or other funding organizations.
  • Develop and maintain media contact lists.
  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events.
  • Direct or supervise fundraising staff, including volunteer staff members.
  • Secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors.
  • Prepare materials for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags.
  • Create or update donor databases.
  • Establish fundraising or participation goals for special events or specified time periods.
  • Explain the tax advantages of contributions to potential donors.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors.
  • Monitor budgets, expense reports, or other financial data for fundraising organizations.
  • Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
  • Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs.
  • Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events.
  • Develop fundraising activity plans that maximize participation or contributions and minimize costs.
  • Develop or implement fundraising activities, such as annual giving campaigns or direct mail programs.
  • Direct or coordinate web-based fundraising activities, such as online auctions or donation Web sites.
  • Plan and direct special events for fundraising, such as silent auctions, dances, golf events, or walks.
  • Solicit cash or in-kind donations or sponsorships from individual, business, or government donors.
  • Write speeches, press releases, or other promotional materials to increase awareness of the causes, missions, or goals of organizations seeking funds.
  • Conduct research to identify the goals, net worth, history of charitable donations, or other data related to potential donors, potential investors, or general donor markets.
  • Coordinate transportation or delivery of materials, supplies, or donations for fundraising events.
  • Secure speakers for charitable events, community meetings, or conferences to increase awareness of charitable, nonprofit, or political causes.
  • Write and send letters of thanks to donors.
  • Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program data.

Requirements

Requires BS/BA with a minimum of Five years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels (preferably in the EMEA region) in direct marketing or fundraising, marketing, public relations, social marketing and management experience. Experience in supervising and supporting several countries at the same time would be relevant.

Track record of success in developing, building and managing corporate partnerships and evidence of past success implementing processes to build/cultivate donor relationships and growing stewardship processes. Must possess outstanding presence, self-confidence & enthusiasm and be comfortable engaging with all levels of stakeholders. Work experience must demonstrate the ability to plan strategically and to successfully guide/execute special events. Excellent verbal and writing skills are required. Position demands the ability to positively interact internally as a team member as well as externally with donors and leadership members.

Fluency in English and/ or Spanish.

  • relevant fundraising or related qualifications.
  • experience in engaging community groups and community organisations in giving;
  • appropriate donor/ investors database management skills;
  • use of digital communication skills to increase awareness and build donor support;
  • excellent project and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple deadlines;
